Warwick Castle is one of the top ten
tourist attractions in the UK. It's a fascinating
day out for adults and children and when compared to
other tourist attractions in the UK, it represents
excellent value for money.
Set in the heart of the English countryside, it is
still easy to reach from all over England especially
by train, bus or car from London or Birmingham. It's also
only 8 miles away from Stratford-upon-Avon, the home
of Shakespeare.

HISTORY
This page and the pages linking from it, give you
all the information you will ever need to make the
most of your visit to the Castle. Warwick Castle has
been on its present site from at least 914 when
Ethelfleda, the daughter of Alfred the Great,
constructed a rampart to protect the area from
invading Danes.

BUYING TICKETS
Before you visit the castle it's worthwhile
exploring the options available for buying tickets.
Tickets can of course be bought at the gate but they
can also be bought online. The official Warwick
Castle claims that booking online gives you a 10%
discount but that's not how we see it! For starters,
when booking online you need to pay an online
booking fee which increases the online price. Then,
there's different prices depending on the time of
year you visit. Best

available. |

FOOD AND DRINK
With so much to see at Warwick Castle it's easy to
spend the day there. With that in mind, food and
drink will be required! On site at the Castle there
are two restaurants and various other food stalls.
This gives a variety of food at a variety of prices.
Other options are available though. Why not take a
picnic? We also show you some other options outside
of the castle and the policies on re-admission if
you do leave the castle for food.
