First we reviewed the parking and how easy it was to get from
the car parks to the castle entrance. On many days in the summer
the main car park is full before midday and the nearest
alternative car park is about a mile away from the castle
entrance. Even parking the main car park can result in a long,
uphill walk to the entrance. Wheelchairs are available at the
castle entrance but their supply is limited and not guaranteed.
When entering the car park ask about the availability (not
guaranteed) of disabled car parking, it is much nearer the
entrance and only a couple of minutes walk away.
Inside the castle all the outdoor attractions (Birds of Prey,
Trebuchet, Jousting and gardens) are fully accessible. But be
aware that the hill down to the Jousting area is a bit steep.
The majority of the indoor attractions are not suitable for
wheelchair users, the entrances have steps and the paths are too
narrow.
So, it's a mixed bag at Warwick Castle for wheelchair users
but the entrance fee is virtually half price for wheelchair
users and one carer. There are certainly lots of wheelchair
users visiting the castle and there is enough of interest to
keep you occupied for at least half a day, probably more. |
