The guide book advises that the Rose Garden is at its best in end June
to late July. We visited it in the second week of July and very few
roses were in flower. Whether it be global warming or something other
cause, this garden is now best viewed in June. |
|
Even though the roses had past their best by the
time of our visit we still appreciated these gardens. they are
free from the crowds and the layout is extremely pleasing. There
are several seats in the garden and it is a great place for your
picnic if you want to get away from the crowds and fancy a
proper seat. The gardens were designed by Robert Marnock who
also designed the Sheffield Botanical Garden and parts of the
Regent's Park garden.
If you are there in June, then do give it a
visit. The archway of roses that leads you into the gardens must be
spectacular when in flower. |
