If you travel to Gozo by ferry then you will land at Mgarr harbour. Look at any guide book on Gozo and the their advice on landing at Mgarr Harbour is drive / catch a bus to Victoria! This is probably good advice although a stroll along the harbour side is interesting.

Fishermen are tending their luzzus (traditional fishing boats), yachtsmen are moving their yachts and ferries keep them all alert. The scene is one of frenetic, random activity that has a charm all of its own. The most civilised place to view this activity is the Gleneagles Harbour Bar which directly overlook the harbour.
Up until 1865 the islands of Gozo and Malta were connected by infrequent and irregular sailing boats. To great fanfare, the first regular service began in June 1865 with the arrival of the state of the art steamer Gleneagles.

The car and foot ferry pick up points are Cirkewwa on Malta and Mgarr on Gozo. Tickets are bought in Malta not Gozo. The ferry runs very frequently, roughly every 45 minutes at peak times. In late Spring to early autumn there is also a less frequent service that runs throughout the night.
The journey takes about 25 minutes and you need to arrive about 30 minutes before departure.
