The Azure Window is one of the most photographed views on Gozo and there is good reason. It is the remains of a collapsed cave and the gateway to an inland sea. It is called the Azure Window because of the deep blue colour of the sea when viewed through the frame of the rocks. For a small charge you can take a boat trip through the tunnel and the Azure Window. For the brave, it is possible swim it. We were cowards!

The Azure Window on Gozo While you are there, take a look at the small chapel at the top of the hill. Inside is cool and good place to sit and contemplate. The best time of day to visit the Azure window is the afternoon. In the mornings, coach loads of tourists appear and clog up the small promontory.

There is a cafe and a few stalls on site selling trinkets.
