Montjiuc is a large hill near the centre
of Barcelona. It is home to several attractions for the
tourist and is well worth a visit. But don't be fooled,
these attractions are spread out over a large area and
remember, the hill is steep and climb is long.

CASTELL DE MONTJUIC
Take the long walk to the top of Montjuic or, far
easier, take
the funicular and then the cable car. Castell de
Montjuic is closed now to the public but the journey
up is worth it alone for the spectacular views of
Barcelona. On the right can be seen the Sagrada
Famila in the distance and on the left is the
beautiful view of Barcelona port. |

MONTJUIC CEMETERY
Montjuic Cemetery is interesting, just to see how
another culture treats their dead. There are rows
and rows of boxed areas in the walls, some go ten
boxes high and require the tenders to climb up
ladders to clean up the are.
Others, like those on the right, have spectacular
and eternal views of Barcelona. |
